HOW THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY JAIL SYSTEM WORKS
Arrested individuals in San Diego County may be taken to various jails. Located in downtown San Diego, the San Diego Central Jail is the central receiving point for adult males arrested in the greater San Diego area. Male adults arrested in North County are generally taken to the Vista Detention Facility in Vista. Adult female arrestees are generally taken to the Las Colinas Detention Facility in Santee. Bail bonds may be processed at any of these facilities.

The San Diego Central Jail often acts as simply a booking location. Men processed in at this jail may not be kept at there for long, especially if they are not bailed out quickly. It is likely that they will be moved to another San Diego County jail such as the South Bay Detention or George Bailey Detention Facilities.

When an arrestee is moved to a new facility, they must be processed into the system. During the processing time, a bail bond may not be processed by the jail. Our agents can help you understand how the bail bond process is handled based on the location of the inmate.
